Costumer Critiques
I had relatively high expectations, which may possibly be why I was so disappointed with this product. I've long been a fan of the arcade version, and sad to say this was nowhere practically as enjoyable. The game lags terrible, and it really is incredibly tricky to shoot anything with any degree of accuracy. Even apparent hits usually miss. Not to mention the limited selections out there. Whereas the arcade has five various animals/locations to hunt, this a single only has 3.
General, this game was extra frustrating than it was enjoyable. I might give the Wii version a shot, but I guess I'll have to preserve my expectations low for that as well. I guess it's just too hard for them to get a very good house version of the best arcade game ever developed.
I purchased one of these at a Dollar Store as an impulse purchase (not excellent to shop tired:), not expecting much but it turned out to be fairly entertaining. My fella is a hunter and he thought it wouldn't be worth the time to open the box... but then he played it for a variety of hours last evening. It functions fairly properly after the rapid set up- put in batteries, set Tv, plug it in, get it to register the gun. We had a handful of issues with light interference (had to shut off all the lights in the room for it to show up on the Tv), but just after it got going we had been in a position to turn stuff back on. The graphics are all right (about what you'd expect for an orange plastic version of an arcade game) and the gun to screen shooting registers fairly darn well. We'll be keeping ours and enjoying "shooting" water buffalo and hyenas for a while i guess. It really is beneficial low cost silly fun.
Review update- We've only had this thing two days and it eats batteries (3AAA 4AA!) like crazy. Thank goodness for rechargeables... it's just much more than a bit annoying to maintain getting to swap them out though. Bummer:(
