Wow! I am so glad I bought this. Right after reading evaluations on all of the other "laptops" for young children, I decided on this one immediately after thorough investigation. Most complaints with other parents on the other laptops was about the LCD screen becoming so little, although the screen on this is excellent for its size and intent. I did not have trouble seeing anything. So it doesn't light up, I'm thankful, that is one less battery to replace. The other complaint I read about the others is that they had been loud. This one particular is not. My children playing with their toys does not disturb me even though. If they are mastering interacting with the toy, I'm pleased.
An additional entertaining feature on this paticular "laptop" is that it has a operating mouse. You can click to enter move it slightly left or ideal or up down (it is attached to the pad) to get to one other activity or participate in a single of the thirty plus entertaining games that supply pre-K mastering Kindergarten learing...locate the shape that is larger, and so on...
