The five-6 player expansion set of "The Settlers of Catan" includes the following items:
1) Added land and ocean tiles that boost the size of the island of Catan from 19 land tiles in the 3-four player game to 30 land tiles [surrounded by water tiles] for the 5-6 player version.
two) A full set of 30 numbered discs that matches the new, bigger island.
three) Extra cards of each and every type of resource needed to accommodate more players
4) An addendum set of guidelines for 5-6 playes that introduces intriguing new options for building not included in the 3-four player game.
Oh, you quite possibly know this, but you should be aware that the 5-6 player expansion is not a stand-alone game, you want the three-four player game in order to use this expansion.
OK, why obtain the expansion? It, of course, permits up to two way more players to join in. Also, the rules addendum includes an fascinating twist... amongst-turn bulding. Plus, five-6 players in the game delivers a great deal more player-to-player trade selections, etc.
All in all an wonderful addition to an outstanding game. It's fun, it really is durable, it really is interactive, and some say, "addictive."

I had been excited about getting this to let way more players in our ordinary game night...yet what is not listed is that this is made for the later editions exactly where the water pieces are linked together like a puzzle (not the standard hexagon shaped water pieces). Seriously.. how hard would it have been to crank out a few water pieces to fit the old editions and toss them in the box... boom, all editions are now covered in a single shot.
I am sad to say I had to return this hours just after receiving it.
