Item Description

From the Manufacturer
Unleash the Pharaoh's wrath. The completely redesigned Khet two. Laser Game makes use of Egyptian mirrors and modern, eye-safe lasers to illuminate opponents and win the game. Combines simplicity of checkers and the strategy of chess. Mensa National Competitors Winner. Batteries included. A great game for every generation. two players adult For ages 9-adult.
Khet, The Laser Game, is played on an 80-square grid with a pharaoh and obelisk playing king and pawn, sort of, plus a mirrored pyramid and a wandering "djed," and it's chess-like, except for the lasers firing from the corners and bouncing off the mirrors

Customer Evaluations

The only comparison I can definitely make is to chess, but Khet is much easier to learn, and it's easier to believe a couple of moves ahead. There are various beginning arrangements you can use to add wide variety, and given that the pieces start out spread about the board, you can get down to organization ideal away, compared to the slow begins of chess. The pieces' unique abilities are developed by their physical shapes, rather than becoming in a position to move diverse distances and directions as in chess, so the guidelines are quite simple. There are only four varieties of pieces, and they all move the identical way. But regardless of the straight forward guidelines, this is a difficult game for all ages. Later on if you really feel the desire to kick it up a notch, the Eye of Horus and Tower of Kadesh expansions will make it even more thoughts-bending.
Swift rules:
1) Pieces are eliminated by hitting them on a non-mirrored side (like your personal pieces if you are not cautious), with the goal getting to eradicate your opponent's pharaoh (the laser causes pieces to glow when hit on a non-mirrored side, which is pretty cool)
2) Every single turn you can move a piece one particular square, or rotate a mirrored piece 90 degrees. Only two unique points to keep track of:
2a) Obelisks might possibly be stacked two-high and moved as a stack
2b) The Djed piece can swap areas with an obelisk or pyramid (of either color) that is blocking its path
Like other reviewers I'd be willing to spend more for a version that was much better aligned, but do not be discouraged. It really is decent for five-7 bounces based on slight variations in the pieces, and paths of over 5 bounces do not appear to occur that typically. This is considering that longer paths take longer to set up and are less difficult to disrupt. Normally paths longer than five bounces take place on accident.
You also don't want to be concerned too substantially about breaking the mirrors. I'm confident you could do it if you attempted, but the plastic frames produce fairly really good protection.

I got this game for my birthday (I am 35) and I enjoy it! It really is like a high-tech version of chess. Unquestionably tends to make you consider tricky and try to plot out your moves a large number of actions in advance. It's particularly tricky considering that you have to simultaneously assume offensively and defensively. If you like classic strategic boardgames, you will adore this game.
